Disability Discrimination
Perry Scott Nash Associates have developed a wealth of experience in interpreting the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (and all amendments) and the various Codes of Practice and Guidance information which supports the legislation.
We can guide Clients on the need for access audits, training, alterations to premises in order to meet the 'reasonable adjustments' requirements, writing of policy documents, complaints procedures and Access Statements.
In particular, we are able to bring our expertise in this area to any development or refurbishment project and can work with the Design Teams to interpret legislative needs against client demands.
The British Standards Institute were first to publish Pat Perry's very successful book 'Winning with Disability Discrimination' and the pragmatic guidance conveyed in the book underpins our approach to advising Clients.
We are fully conversant with British Standard 8300 (2009) 'Design of Buildings and Their Approaches to Meet the Needs of Disabled People – Code of Practice' and also with Part M Building Regulations.
