| “I am Secretary
of The Wessex Region of the British Institute of Innkeeping
BII). For those who do not know who we are, we are the leading
authors of training courses for the Licensed Trade, which
are accredited through the QCA. We have over 15'000 members
Nationwide and deliver upwards of 100'000 training courses
each year through our network of accredited trainers. My role
as Secretary is to coordinate the activities of my Region
and seek out and provide resources to make my members’
lives easier.
I have been greatly concerned that the membership are not
prepared for the full introduction of the Disability Discrimination
Act in October of this year. What has also concerned me is
the 'Consultancy' companies who are offering to carry out
Disability Compliance assessment and the fees they are charging.
I was made aware of Perry Scott Nash Group via the Publican
website and was very interested to learn of their manual 'Winning
with Disability Discrimination in Licensed Premises'. I have
purchased a copy of this manual and have no hesitation in
recommending it to fellow Publicans.
The manual is easy to read and understand, it is divided
into relevant sections, making access to information very
easy. I think the most valuable section is Chapter 6, 'How
to Audit Your Pub'. This section contains easy to follow instructions
and proformas that will enable any Publican to carry out an
audit of their pub. Further sections deal with training of
staff and how to approach complaints.
I cannot speak too highly of this Manual and at a cost of
£35 + vat, it will save even a single operator hundreds
of pounds on specialist consultants and for multiple operators
this could amount to thousands of pounds. This is a must for
all Publicans.”
Robert Feal-Martinez FBII
Secretary. Wessex Region BII.
“I don't think I have seen such a useful and concise
piece of information regarding the DDA and compliance and
the way the message is conveyed is very clever - especially
where you may be getting a message to someone who has never
met a disabled person.”
